Amherst Center For Senior Services

The Amherst Senior Center is a community focal point. Compared with their peers, senior center participants have higher levels of health, social interaction, and life satisfaction. The Center connects older adults to vital community services that can help you stay healthy and independent. We have a wide variety of programs and services, including: Nutrition program, information and assistance, health, fitness and wellness programs, transportation services, public benefits counseling, employment assistance, volunteer opportunities, social and recreational activities, education and arts programs, and intergenerational programs in partnership with the Amherst Youth & Recreation Department. Research shows that older adults who participate in senior programs can learn to manage or delay the onset of chronic disease and experience measurable improvements in their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, mental, and economic well-being. Our Center is reinventing itself to meet the needs and desires of the aging baby boom generation. Boomers now constitute more than two-thirds of the 50+ population.
