About The Site

Located in Buffalo’s historic Polonia District, the Adam Mickiewicz Library & Dramatic Circle at 612 Fillmore Ave is a cultural cornerstone and one of the city's most significant ethnic landmarks. Founded in 1895 and named after the revered Polish poet and freedom fighter, Adam Mickiewicz, the venue has preserved Polish literature, theater, and culture for over a century. The upstairs library houses over 12,000 volumes, including 400 hand-copied Polish play scripts, making it the oldest surviving Polish library in Buffalo. The Dramatic Circle also boasts a unique European experience in its private bar, known for offering the largest selection of Polish beers outside Chicago or Hamilton, Ontario, alongside Polish vodkas and liqueurs like Krupnik, a honey liqueur with centuries-old origins. Visitors can enjoy an array of social activities, including Polish poetry readings, chess games, and satellite TV. The Circle also serves as home to Torn Space Theater productions and hosts major cultural events, including one of Buffalo's largest Dyngus Day celebrations. Whether you're seeking authentic Polish traditions or a vibrant cultural gathering space, the Adam Mickiewicz Library & Dramatic Circle offers a unique and welcoming experience for all.
